Dating & Relationships: What does Godly Dating really mean?

      

      “Dating”- a common devalued fancy term used by this generation to try out people to satisfy their desires. Meeting a person, knowing each other, getting closer beyond their limits and finally breaking up with them for not feeling compatible enough is one sort of dating. Whereas the other type is a mere fornication, where a person meet the other person just to fulfill their bodily pleasures. Everyone now thinks this is so cool and is nothing but being open minded -- completely forgetting that they are flying away from God.

      I have always been asked by my friends that “If you won’t try, how would you know what he actually is? How can I get stuck in that relation for life long if we are not really meant for each other?” My answer for them is  “Did our parents choose/try us before giving birth or at least while raising us up? or did we even choose/try them and check the compatibility factors between us? No right? But still they love us unconditionally and do we. They try to correct us with love and we do the same. We also try to get adjusted and accustomed to their nature and habits even if don’t like them.” Why can’t we receive the person in the same manner?

      Next comes the question that how do we know who is the right person then? It is as simple as it is. It is clearly quoted in Mathew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well..”  Yes, if you are continuously seeking God’s will and walking in His righteous path, He will take care of all your needs. It is also stated by Solomon in Psalms 127:2 that God provides for those He loves, even while they sleep. It is your righteousness and prayers that gives you a right partner. We can also see this promises fulfilled and testified through several lives till date. In Holy Bible, when we see the life of Ruth ,a Moabite woman, who humbled herself staying loyal to her mother-in-law, giving up her youthful desires -- blessed amazingly by getting married to a landlord named Boaz, becoming the lineage to our Father Jesus.

       Finally, in order to follow His path and seek His kingdom, one should not merely listen to the Word of God, but put it into practice. Woman should pray continuously to become a good wife and to fulfill her marital duties(Proverbs 31). There is a quote by Maya Angelou — "A woman's heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her." This is so true and is applicable for men as well.This is so true and is applicable for men as well. They should pursue God’s vision in their life and try to mold themselves to be more like Him. Because, a relation between two can stand firm only when they have God as the center for their relationship. So choose a person who brings you closer to God every single day.
